How to Set Up Pager System Zones

Technology

Divide up your venue into different zones. By doing this, every call button alert will be far more useful to set up and use than if not.

Sketch Your Floor Plan First

When working up a rough hand-drawn sketch of the floor plan first of all. The main areas to include on the sketch would be the bar area, the dining area, the garden, and the back office area. Each of these areas would form a separate ‘zone’ which would need its own receiver or display unit.

Assign a Receiver to Each Zone

To assign a receiver or display unit to a zone(s), during the initial pairing process of a wireless Pager System, note which buttons belong to which zone(s).

Label Everything Clearly

Name the receiver for each separate display or in the case of a receiver for a wireless system, pair with a call button and note the button has been paired to a particular receiver. Label the receiver with for example a “Bar Zone 1” or “Garden Table Area” name.

Test Zone by Zone Before Going Live

Ensure a test is carried out around the outer edge of every single zone, as specified previously. Wireless short-range radio devices are regulated in the UK. A useful reference for the Pager System is www.dinggly.com/.

Adjust Zones as Your Venue Changes

After a while your venue changes can occur. When adding a garden terrace or a new floor for example, revise your floor plan and add new call buttons to a new receiver for the new area or zone. After testing the area/zone in question it is ready for use.

You don’t want to have to recreate the zones for every shift though.
