What can I put on the floor?

Uncategorised

When you buy a new build home it might surprise you to find that the place doesn’t actually come with anything on the floor. The house builders are only obliged to give you a nice bit of concrete and some floor borders or one cut piece of MDF. This gives you a wonderful opportunity to decorate the house with whatever you want to put down. The question is what options do you have. The good news is that there are plenty of choices to choose from.

First of all consider your circumstances. You might be thinking that carpet is the best choice for you. However, don’t discount Engineered Wood Flooring as an option. What you need to think about is what your future needs will be. Do you or do you think you will have children soon? Do you have, or are you thinking about getting, a pet Cat or dog. Whilst extremely lovable these things do create a considerable amount of mess.  Carpets, unless treated with protective material and cleaned regularly, can stain and decay. They also lose their colour. Wood floors, if harder, are more of a wipe clean kind of affair. However carpets are considered to be a warmer alternative. It’s very likely that you need to get a few rugs if you have a wood floor.

Another option is carpet tiles. These are replaceable or even hard and toughened ceramic tiles. In this climate changing world where temperatures are rising this might be a good option.
